Studies In Jonah

Jonah’s story shows us a man who knows what the ways of God are like, but who doesn't himself like God's ways. The Lord teaches the recalcitrant prophet through his descent into the deep and rising again that nothing will stop the Word of God reaching the objects of His grace. The Lord Jesus explained Jonah was a sign to a generation that knew God's ways and blessing, but didn't want to share with a needy world. Do we treasure what we have been given and so obey God's call on our lives? Or, do we cling to vain idols and forfeit the grace that could be ours?

In Galatians Paul writes to the church to encourage them to return to the basic principles of faith in Christ from having been misled by false teachers. In The School Of Christ

John 13-17, sometimes called Christ’s Upper Room Ministry, is a unique and intensive training session for His disciples on the evening before His crucifixion. Christ’s goal is to lay out God’s plan for producing holiness in His people, to prepare us for glory and to make us effective witnesses in the world. There are two halves to His ministry: within the church (13 & 14) and in the world (15 & 16). We will largely be following the thought-flow presented by Dr DW Gooding (‘In the School of Christ’).
