Studies In Isaiah

Studies In Isaiah

The second half of Isaiah is often divided into three main sections: 40-48, 49-57, 58-66. These chapters contain some of the best loved portions of Scripture in the Canon, but it also contains some difficult material. In summary, God announces his great plan of salvation. We see the terrible challenges faced by God because of man’s idolatry. Then the mysterious figure of the Servant is introduced. We learn of His character and His great work. The New Testament helps us distinguish between the fact that the Saviour has come and that He will come. Finally, we catch a glimpse of the new Heaven and the new Earth.

Exodus: Part 2

Exodus: Part 2

Freedom from slavery in Egypt did not mean a free-for-all. People need morals and values and boundaries. The lead-up to Sinai reveals the challenge facing the Lord in dealing with these freed slaves. Moral and social chaos would have prevailed without Sinai. Of course, it was much deeper than that. The Law reveals not only God’s character, but the requirements for a stable society. This series looks particularly at the New Testament’s teaching and application of the positive principles behind the giving of the Law at Sinai.
